Break

over and out…”

all (almost) clear

10:11a

Woke up hungry. Not surprising since all I talked about last night before bed was how amped I was to be able to eat again. My chompers are chomping at the bit.

The prey: A tall glass of 1/2 organic black cherry juice and 1/2 water. Anything’s better than spicy lemons n maple syrup right about now.

Whereas I used to welcome the saltiness of the SWF as it related to the actual taste of food, today I gagged the whole way through.

It was probably overkill, but I wanted to sweep out the last remaining toxic wastoids from my guts.

My body had other ideas tho’. It took an eternal 40 minutes for any action to start.

Amazingly, there were even a few putrid bits n pieces in the first few spurts. Dirty stragglers, what took y’all so long, huh?

The first movement was absolutely rank. Smelled like dead chicken parts that were sealed in a plastic baggie for two weeks and left outside during summer heatwave. A billowing wretched nastiness that linger after several to many flushes.

The next one was as bad but the familiarity of the scent proved less shocking. The last drizzles got progressively clearer and thinner, nearly matching the cloudy consistency of the SWF going in.

Breaking the MC

Burrough’s lays out a 3-5 day plan to get my body in the mood to masticate.

I’ll make 1/2 batch of portable MC as a filler between slow sips of the watery down black cherry juice. Most of the liteature out there recommends orange juice to break the MC. OJ is way too acidic for my system. Black cherry, mango or even papaya are gentler n tastier (albeit pricier) stand-ins.

The point of the juice is to nudge my slumbering digestive system into semi-conscious state. Water, Peppermint tea, and of course good ‘ol MC. Whoa, I got four choices. I’m stylin’. Watch me now…

If at any point I bloat up, get gassy and/or nauseous I can always fall back strictly on the MC and/or water to hold me over. It’s a gradual process and it’s crucial that I be easy and take it slow.

If all goes well it’s on to

  • pieces of fresh fruit
  • homemade veggie broth (see recipe on pg. 15 of Burroughs)
  • possibly hummus and rice crackers tomorrow.

After the broth, fresh fruit and

Bringing Food Back

It’ll be time to eat again soon. Now that I’ve essentially “cleaned my slate”, I feel like its the best time to explore some of the different options available for my diet.  When I say “diet” I mean what foods I eat on a regular basis, not a specific weight loss program.

Here’s what I’m going to investigate in the next few days.  I’ve dabbled in some them before but never fully dove in head first.

1. Eat Right 4 Your Type - This amazing book will blow you away. http://tipsforhealing.com/eatright.html

2. Macrobiotics – A basic introduction.

4. Ayurveda - 5,000 year old Indian mind, body and spiritual tradition based on doshas (types).

*************************************

I felt like telling everyone I passed on the street today “I haven’t eaten in 11 days, don’t I look fucking great?” or “Go ahead, ask me why I so happy right now.” I kept it to myself but ended up smiling like an true ass at anything that mildly caught my attention.

I’m really optimistic about all my dreams and goals. It hasnt’ quite sunk in that I just accomplished something on my list of life goals. I pushed through the fear and resistance, blocked out the naysayers and mean spirited “concern” for my health.

I did it and nothing that happens going forward can ever alter or erase the truth of that fact and what it means to me on such a deep level. In the aftermath of all the suffering and loss I’ve had to deal with in my immediate family, my current emotional state feels almost like a dream.

That is until I pinch myself on the ass again.
